A refractive lensectomy is the process of surgically replacing the eye's natural lens with a lens implant that corrects the patient's refractive error. In a painless surgery that typically takes less than ten minutes per eye, we are able to correct cataracts, nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Patients who undergo a refractive lensectomy are typically able to get back to regular activities between 24 and 48 hours after surgery.

After a refractive lensectomy, and once healing is complete, patients can expect their vision to remain stable. Even patients who typically experience a change in prescription between vision appointments will benefit from unchanged vision after the surgery.

Patients who undergo a lensectomy due to cataracts have some exciting new options available to restore and improve their vision - ReZoom™ and ReSTOR®.
